About
I have been teaching double bass and electric bass in the Chicago area since 2008. I have taught beginners, advanced students, adult learners and am proud to have worked with many from their first lesson through to their high school graduation. Former students have or are currently attending Cleveland Institute of Music, Eastman School of Music, Oberlin Conservatory, Young Artist Summer Program – Curtis Institute, and the National Repertory Orchestra to name a few.

I take pride in teaching students that have a variety of goals and skill sets. My goal is to help lay a technical foundation that a student can use in whatever genre of music they are performing in. In Spring 2020 I had a student perform the Dragonetti/Nanny Concerto with her high school orchestra and I had a student who was accepted at USC’s Thornton School of Music. His audition, performed on bass guitar, consisted of Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Untitled 5,’ Mac Miller’s ‘Come Back to Earth,’ and Vampire Weekend’s ‘Sunflower.’

I studied double bass with Duane Botterbusch of the Harrisburg Symphony and continued with Andrew Kohn at West Virginia University where I earned a degree in Music Education. I completed a Master’s degree in Music Performance at DePaul University where I studied with Rob Kassinger of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. While studying at DePaul, I performed with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago.

Location
Due to Covid-19, I will be teaching in an online format indefinitely.

Illinois Wesleyan University
From Winter 2012- Spring 2020 I was the instructor of Double Bass and Bass Guitar. My students were leaders in the school of music, performing with all types of ensembles, and were regularly featured as soloists.
